We Made It!

After an 8 hour flight, 1 hour shuttle, 2.5 hour train ride, and 20 minute vaporetto (boat ride) we finally made it to our hotel in Venice from Milan.  We are staying near the Rialto bridge in a square right off the water.

After settling into our hotel room around 6 pm, we got ready to explore the city. We stumbled upon "mundo di vino" for some "cichetti" (Italian tapas) and local wines. 

Little did we know, there were scattered thunderstorms in the air and our exploring was brought to a halt when the skies opened and a massive rain storm began. Matt bought me an umbrella for 10 euro which was very nice until he saw the store down the street selling the same umbrella for 3.99 (the whole city is filled with tourist traps).

For dinner we found a small local spot for salad and pizza.  Decent food, nothing special. After a long day, we're looking forward to getting some gelato & a good night sleep to start fresh in the morning!

Welcome to our Honeymoon

Hi Everyone,
We thought it would be a great idea to keep a running journal/diary/blog of our 2 weeks in Italy on our honeymoon. Not only for our families and friends to travel along with us, but for us to have as a reminder of this special trip for years to come.

We'll be including pictures of each city as well as most meals and restaurants along the way.  This way, when we complain how fat we've gotten, you'll know why.  We'll probably get some "selfies" in there as well.

We arrive in Venice on June 29th, and from there we will be traveling to Florence, Rome, Praiano and Naples over the next two weeks. For those of you who haven't heard of Praiano, it is on the Amalfi Coast and is a 5 minute drive from Positano. We picked Praiano as it is known to be a little less touristy than Positano but is still centrally located.

We hope you enjoy following our trip as much as we'll enjoy being on it.
